In 1970-71, Prayag Mahila Vidyapeeth was expanded as Mahila Mahavidyalaya in the heart of Prayagraj, Civil Lines, and Prayag Mahila Vidyapeeth Degree College came into existence, whose post of Principal was adorned by Padma Vibhushan Mahiyasi Smt. Mahadevi Verma, also a recipient of the Gyanpeeth Award. Later, Mahadevi ji had bonded this institution with her existence in such a way that both became synonymous with each other.
